THE THUNDERBIRDS
CELEBRATING THE ROCK HISTORY FROM THE 50s TO THE 70s

MAKRO
X-Mas Special
Violin, Cello, and Christmas Grooves from Classical to Swing
During the Christmas season, violin meets cello, and classical music encounters swing:
Bach's Christmas Oratorio merges in a program with Let It Snow and Tchaikovsky’s Sugar Plum Fairy. When Santa Claus Comes to Town, he dances to Piazzolla’s Libertango and enjoys Schubert's Ave Maria, before Wham! brings him back to the present with Last Christmas.
The X-Mas Special by MAKRO combines contemplation with humor, tradition with avant-garde.
The program includes arrangements of:
-
J.S. Bach: Christmas Oratorio (excerpts)
-
B. Britten: Ceremony of Carols (excerpts)
-
F. Schubert: Ave Maria
-
J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations
-
A. Piazzolla: Libertango
-
Handel/Halvorsen: Passacaglia
-
J.S. Bach: Concerto for Two Violins
-
P. Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy)
-
Christmas songs including Let It Snow, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Kommet ihr Hirten.
